| A brief intorduction of your Wake Island life. |
Our family arrived on Wake Island in late June 1965. Coming straight out of The Bronx, New York, it was complete culture shock when we woke up the next morning! How sweet it was !! We jumped into the big, heavy truck our Dad had bought prior to our arrival and headed to the terminal building to check the mail — then out to the end of the runway to see the beach ! Our Dad exclaims “There’s ONE” — we parked and ran down to the beach and picked up a huge glass ball that had just washed up! From there on, I was hooked and most of my favorite time was beachcombing for glass balls and checking out all the beauty of the beach and tidal pools. No matter when, sunshine or rain – I loved my beach walk. We met many wonderful people on Wake, had great teachers and really were a big family. This website will keep those bonds going for sure ! Welcome Everyone ! |
